Publishing Choices
You have a lot of choices in publishing today. Based on your revenue goals, your book's audience and potential sales channels, PUBLISH will help you determine which route is best for you.
You may choose to take control of the process yourself and shoulder all the risk as with self-publishing, or shift the risk and a large portion of the profits to a major publishing house - assuming you are accepted.
Or you may choose a variation of these two. "Equity" or "Cooperative" publishing is a fairly new option that gives authors much of the distribution and services they get with major houses, with a much bigger royalty and more control over the content and design of their book. In addition, the books are ready fast and reach profitability with far fewer books sold - sometimes as little as 500 copies. Both publisher and author share in the financial risk.
E-books offer an author nearly 100% profit with very little cost to produce. Although their popularity is growing, they are not nearly as appealing to readers as conventional books.
